My family approach is from a Humanistic approach. This approach allows families to talk about their relationships with one another in order to encourage and strengthen those relationships, especially when families are going through difficult times such as periods of substance abuse or divorce. I take a “neutral” standpoint, as I believe that a couple or family problem can never be just one person’s fault. Usually negative patterns can develop when someone feels hurt, or neglected, by his/her family member. The longer these feelings go unmet the worst the problems may get over time.
