Hello

I am a Licensed Mental Health Clinician. My background in psychology consists of over 20 years of experience. My work focuses on Individuals battling with depression, anxiety, and trauma, as well as family/couple’s counseling. My work has involved working in the criminal system helping sex offenders and domestic violence perpetrators decrease their risk for reoffending. In addition to helping individuals and families, my work extends to the corporate world, helping organizations focus on their mental health in the workplace while increasing their self-care strategies.

My Approach

My counseling comes from a psychodynamic approach while combining aspects of cognitive therapy. My goal is to help individuals explore the importance of healthy attitudes and habits that promote balance in one’s life.

PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY

The psychodynamic therapy approach is focused on the emotional, mental and spiritual forces that motivate human behavior. Its goal is to help the client understand how their behavior and mood are affected by making connections with unresolved issues and unconscious feelings. This is accomplished by making the unconscious elements in one’s life a part of one’s present experience. Further, I often incorporate other theories such as the cognitive theory.

COGNITIVE THERAPY

Cognitive therapy focuses on the Here and Now – and therefore can bring about change in a timely way. It examines how an individual understand and makes sense of his/her daily life. It is based on the idea that negative and faulty thinking can lead one to become depressed. Cognitive therapy combined with mindfulness-based cognitive techniques works well by focusing on becoming aware of all incoming thoughts and feelings and accepting them, but not attaching or reacting to them.

In addition to theabove therapies, I routinely study new and effective techniques in modern therapy, and I would be happy discuss my views and objectives with you.
